Group Art Therapy: Adolescents with ADHD
by Diane Safran
Led by Board Certified Art Therapist Diane Safran, this psychoeducational group focused on self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and managing ADHD for middle school youth.
The single hour-long session was part of a 10-week group art therapy program to support youngsters with ADHD. The drawing prompt for the session was “How does ADHD affect you?” The group members showed their drawings as a jumping point for sharing their personal experiences with ADHD. Safran provided an overview of the group process and intention prior to the session and then a summary of the group and one member’s success after therapy.
